The present building was built in 1897 but it has been an inn for much longer.It used to be a stopping stage from the south of London and you can still see where the steps led up to where the Horses were kept [the people down below]
                                          
The car-park to the rear is where a bomb landed in the 2nd world war and under the garden and back restaurant we found stabling and a courtyard which has been buried.

Also in the garden we have deadly nightshade; [only we know where] which was grown by the Hospital :GUYS and used to treat people.  Snowfeilds the street next to the Horseshoe is named as you would expect, because of the snow on the Fields.

We are now in one of the fastest growing parts of London, just off Bermondsey Street which is fast becoming the place to live and work and as such, We market the pub to refresh and water the growing population but still keeping that PUB feeling!!!
